Two local companies have shown their commitment to Northallerton by investing in new premises in the town, which have been developed by one of its best-known businesses.
Home improvement firms Think Interiors and Tasker Electrical Installations have both bought units at Barker’s Court, a new development on Standard Way Industrial Estate.
Barker’s Court, a group of nine light industrial units, has been developed by Barkers (Northallerton) Limited, owners of Barkers Department Store, in High Street, Northallerton, and Barkers Furniture Store, on the town’s Yafforth Road.
Andrew Foster, of Think Interiors, said: “We were aware of the development from an early stage and as a growing kitchen, bathroom and bedroom company we had an urgent requirement for additional storage space. The units are built to a high standard and the opportunity to be able to purchase the unit immediately next to our showroom on Standard Way was a key factor in us locating here.”
Stefan Tasker, of Tasker Electrical Installations, gained intimate knowledge of Barker’s Court, as the units were being constructed.
He said: “We were involved in the development as the main electrical contractor and were looking to relocate premises. We also wanted to buy rather then let and Barker’s Court will provide the ideal location for our business moving forward..”
Barker’s Court is situated on land adjacent to Barker’s distribution depot and was designed by Shuttleworth Picknett Architects and built by contractors York House Construction. Units range in size from 1,500sq ft to 3,000sq ft and are available on flexible lease terms at rents of £5.50 per sq ft or are available to purchase on a 999-year leasehold basis.
Richard Wilson, of letting agents storeys:ssp, said there was a good level of interest for the remaining six units from businesses looking to relocate to Northallerton or expand within the town.
