HR consultancy puts best foot forward with new client
A North East HR consultancy is stepping into the spotlight after winning a major contract with a well-known shoe retailer.
Directors Andy Holgate and Caroline Dixon, of Gosforth-based Holgate HR, will work with John Eliot (Footwear) Ltd to redesign the performance management strategy and competence framework of the business. The growing footwear company, based in South Shields, is the largest Clarks franchise operator in the UK and has nine stores from Northumberland to West Yorkshire, employing approximately 100 staff. The business is continuing to expand and opened its new store before Christmas in the new Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth, Northumberland.
The Holgate HR directors are well placed to take on the challenge of working with several stores. They have more than 40 years of combined multi-sector HR and people development experience, including working with FTSE 250 companies. Andy has operated at board level with a range of national businesses such as Somerfield, whilst Caroline is a training and management development specialist.
With this new client, they aim to deliver improved business performance and to enhance the manager’s ability to manage performance and develop the skills of store teams.
Andy said: “We’re delighted to be working with this ambitious company and we’re looking forward to using our skills and expertise to assist the staff at John Eliot (Footwear) Ltd to move their business forward.
“We set up Holgate HR after recognising a gap in the market for a lean, strategically strong HR consultancy offering high quality, long term solutions at a cost effective rate.
“We pride ourselves on properly getting to know our clients and fully understanding their business needs, which is why we also offer a free initial consultation. Businesses can meet us in an informal, personal setting to discuss their business needs, without having to worry about expensive initial charges.”
Matthew Eliot, Operations Director of John Eliot (Footwear) Ltd, said: “We chose Holgate HR because we were impressed by the cost-effective, personally tailored HR programme we were offered, which still uses the expertise of a larger consultancy. We’re looking forward to working with them to help us provide an even better working environment for our staff.”
Despite trading during the recession, Holgate HR has not suffered, as many employers have been seeking advice on how to best help to develop their business and their staff through the economic downturn.
Now that 2010 has a brighter economic outlook, Holgate HR is preparing to advise organisations about the best course of action through the recovery period.
Holgate HR specialises in strategic HR projects including improving performance, leadership and management development, employee engagement initiatives and employee relations work.
