Massive Online Support For Ambitious Globe Vision...

An ambitious vision to bring back The Globe Theatre in Stockton is gathering massive public support with hundreds of people giving their backing to the project via social networking site, Facebook.

In just a few weeks, over 1,000 people have visited the website to support multimillion pound development plans which aim to restore and relaunch The Globe as one of the largest live music and performance venues in the North East.

The website is attracting fans from across the UK with many posting personal comments, photos from past gigs including The Beatles, Cliff Richard and The Shadows and Buddy Holly, copies of concert programmes and other memorabilia.

Sheena Griffiths, Marketing Manager of Jomast commented, “It is fantastic to see members of the public supporting the plans and openly backing our vision for The Globe Theatre. Comments left on the site are very positive and we encourage as many people as possible to get behind the project and help us drive it forward.”

Stockton Borough Council recently passed development plans submitted by Jomast which aim to bring The Globe back to its former glory. The decision marks the beginning of a strategic joint partnership between both parties that aims to deliver a major regeneration project in the heart of Stockton town centre.
Plans include the preservation and restoration of the present external appearance and all major elements of the building as used in the past, extending the venue to allow for the upgrade and installation of new seating, bar, catering and washroom facilities and converting an adjacent vacant property into a modern bar and bistro. The internal layout will also be largely unchanged in order to maintain the existing space and architectural features.
