National Student Survey Results
City of Sunderland College has cause for celebration once again following the results of the 2010 National Student Survey in which it named the College's higher education programmes as the best in the region when it comes to satisfied students with scores equalling that of the local elite universities - Durham and Newcastle.
The College remains in the top twenty percent of high achieving Colleges and Universities from across England, proving it has a lot to offer students in terms of high quality teaching, first-class facilities and up-to-date resources.
Assistant Principal of Higher Education, Dave Duell, said: "We are delighted with the results of the 2010 National Student Survey which shows the high standard of education on offer here at the City of Sunderland College."
The result replicates last year’s results which saw the college named best for satisfied students in the region.
Dave added: "These results are a terrific boost for the College and to our students who can clearly see that they are getting one of the best student experiences in the country.
"We continuously strive to improve our working practices and offer relevant and up-to-date teaching for our students. Results such as these highlight the hard work and dedication shown by staff in providing our students with an unforgettable learning experience.
"As a provider of higher education we focus on offering the students an enjoyable and rewarding education experience with manageable class sizes, expert tutors and teaching staff to ensure there is always a support system in place for students.
"We believe the time and care we put into student support achieves great results and allows our students to flourish in an educational environment and beyond."
The annual survey provides students with an opportunity to grade their higher education provider and student experience at a national level.
Results are then compared against other institutions in the region and across the UK, which helps prospective students make informed choices of where and what to study.
The survey is also important as it helps participating institutions to identify and improve in areas where they may need to develop.
Last year the College had over 1,200 Higher Education students. With a strong reputation in the North East, the College is a major provider of foundation degrees, HNDs and access courses.
It offers a huge range of subjects from Childcare, Science and Engineering courses, to Art and Design, Sport and Business and offers a flexible range of part-time and full-time study options.
Last year the college had over 500 full-time students and 700 part-time students studying within its centres
