‘Wear’ on – work starts on site at Washington development
Work has started on site at Keepmoat Homes’ Lambton Mews development in Washington, just days after the release of the first homes for sale.
The £2m development will see the creation of 17 two and three bedroomed homes, all for private sale with prices starting from just £97,745.
Heading up the site team is newly promoted Construction Manager, Mark Binns, who has been working with Keepmoat Homes for four years.
Mark said: “This is an exciting new development for Keepmoat Homes and it is great to be developing back on Wearside. The ground works are complete, the first foundations are already in and we anticipate the first properties will be available to move into in the New Year.”
“This is the first site I have managed in my new post and I think it will go some way to addressing the need for quality, affordable housing within the area.”
The return to Wearside is part of an ambitious expansion by Keepmoat Homes North East. In 2009/10 the company built and sold 274 dwellings and this year plans to increase its business to over 400 new homes.
Selling the properties from its existing development - The Willows in Bowburn, County Durham - buyers will be able to see the plans and house specifications for the properties at Lambton Mews.
The house types, will include the popular two bedroomed Normanby, the three bedroomed Ashby and the two and a half storey, three bedroomed Oakhurst town house. Prices will start from £97,745 for a two bedroomed home if eligible through Keepmoat Homes shared equity deal.
This assisted purchase scheme allows buyers to own 100% of the property for just 85% of the asking price. The rest is funded through a loan from Keepmoat Homes, with no repayments due for up to 5 years*.
Proximity to the A1(M) and other major road networks are expected to make the development popular with house hunters working in Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland.
