Businesses across the Durham area will have the chance to be part of a new and unique networking venture thanks to Derwentside businesswomen Hazel Armstrong and Maccine Hall. The female entrepreneurs, who each run their own successful companies in the district, identified an opportunity to set up a new company, which would provide a business support framework to local companies across the county.
DCM Durham, the Co Durham franchise of DCM, has received financial support, encouragement and expert advice from the Development Team at Derwentside District Council and the Be Franchise programme, part of the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative for Derwentside, Easington, Sedgefield and Wear Valley. Hazel said on behalf of DCM Durham, “We are extremely grateful to staff at Derwentside and Be Enterprising for all the support, advice and enthusiasm we received. It is hoped that DCM will provide County Durham businesses, both start ups and established, a platform to work with quality local contacts and gain added support for their business. ”
This new and exciting network venture was officially launched at Durham County Cricket Club by Peter McDowell, Head of Economic & Community Development at Derwentside District Council. Peter said, “It was an honour to be asked to launch this new business franchise which is the first franchise to be funded by Be Enterprising in Derwentside. It is a welcomed addition to the existing business support in the district and will highlight the benefits of collaborative working and promote quality service. The Development Team at Derwentside District Council wishes Hazel and Maccine every success in their new venture”.
DCM members meet regularly across the North East taking part in a series of specialist groups to work together on a project or a sector in order that they can compete for larger business / contracts. Equally if they prefer to work individually within DCM, then this is also encouraged.
With the main ethos of DCM being that of quality, members are regularly monitored and guests are by invitation only. A surge of potential companies and individuals has put themselves to the forefront in order to become part of this unique business development community.
