Quality and safety focus at Cramlington firm with new appointment

Cramlington-based medical device company Applied Neurodiagnostics Ltd (AN) has boosted its operations with the appointment of a new quality assurance and regulatory affairs manager.

 

Fifty three-year old Duncan Dando joins from stair and bath lift company Bison Bede, where he had been QA manager.

 

He comes in as the company gears up for the national launch of its new Pupilmetrix™ glaucoma test and detection system.

 

Using this technology, opticians will be able to determine the presence or absence of damage to the retina as part of a patient's routine eye examination.

 

In his new role, Duncan Dando will oversee all aspects of production quality assurance and management as well as ensuring that all products comply with existing and any future health and safety legislation.

 

Keith Morris, AN’s general manager, said: “Quality and safety are important issues affecting us as manufacturer, so Duncan’s expertise will be critical as we bring the product into the market over the coming months.”

 

Duncan Dando added: “I’m really excited about joining Applied Neurodiagnostics and really looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

 

AN is expected to become a significant contributor to the region’s healthcare economy, using many regional companies and organisations as suppliers of goods and services. 

 

Already the young company is starting to make a mark – last year it recently won the Start Up accolade at the prestigious ‘Business for Life’ awards organised by Cels.
