A gold card service, stepping up free advice on legal and employment matters, has been introduced to help contractors in north-east England.
A phone link started a year ago now gives about 85 firms working between Berwick and Whitby an additional half hour of free consultation with a lawyer, making a full hour in all.
The service is run by Civil Engineering Contractors Association (North-East) and Newcastle upon Tyne law firm Watson Burton.
Douglas Kell, director of CECA (NE) says: “Watson Burton has substantial experience in dealing with contracts and disputes in many organisations, and this service has been negotiated as part of the membership of our association.
“Members using it will deal with a qualified solicitor who specialises on the matter raised. The aim will always be to provide a solution, not just to discuss a problem.
“Even if a particular issue needs more than one hour’s consultation, the gold card each member holds will serve as a valuable lift over initial difficulty,” he added.
