The best of new and upcoming architecture in Newcastle and Gateshead is being celebrated in the first North-East Festival of Architecture, running for nine days from June 14.
Around 30 mostly free activities will allow public audiences to explore buildings and places, hear and find out more about architecture, urban design and its impact in a series of talks. There will also be weekend activities with children in mind.
Events include lunchtime talks on architecture, a family postcard competition, school workshops at the Ouseburn Farm in Newcastle, exploring how to become an eco-architect, also an Architect in the House scheme.
An architectural competition for the Scotswood Expo in Newcastle will be held, and film shows about the seven winning schemes of the 2007 Hadrian Awards.
The festival is organised by Northern Architecture, with partners and supporters. For further details go to www.northernarchitecture.com.
