A new company has burst onto the commercial property scene, marketing more than £6m of local properties and businesses for sale only six weeks after starting up.
North East Commercial Property, based in Gateshead, was formed by businessman Kevin Brown in March and has already attracted a team of talented commercial property and business transfer professionals.
Joining Kevin as co-director is Richard Finney, who been in the business transfer market for 14 years, having worked previously at several regional commercial agents and also for developers. More recently he headed up the commercial dept at Rook Matthews Sayer Commercial Ltd.
Kevin Brown has run several of his own companies for the last 28 years, having merged and sold his businesses on many occasions so, to add to the capabilities of NECP, a division called The Business Partnership will fill a gap in the market in helping small to medium sized businesses plan for sale, and maximise their value.
Jointly the two divisions offer a unique business transfer service, that can see a company whole or in parts sold as an ongoing concern along with its premises or lease.
Already the firm has secured a range of businesses for sale, as well as premises-only instructions that spread from Berwick to North Yorkshire and across to the borders of Cumbria.
Within a few weeks of starting up, it has also completed its first instruction on a retail hot food business that was sold direct to a waiting buyer on their books.
Joining Kevin and Richard are several of the former RMS Commercial team, namely Catherine Fenwick who is an experienced senior negotiator and Sarah Hawkes who both advise on both business transfer and commercial property sales.
A third ex-RMS employee joining NECP as a director is chartered surveyor Richard Fenwick, a member of RICS who has worked at several commercial property companies. Richard heads up NECP’s in-house surveying team and is an expert valuer for the banks and lenders, and is supported in the new team by Tim Noble, a chartered surveyor with many years’ experience in valuations for RBS.
Kevin Brown, managing director of NECP and The Business Partnership, said: “There are big synergies between selling a business and its commercial property – inevitably the property a company occupies is a major asset or factor in the business. Our team has worked together for many years, and we can concentrate commercial considerations of selling a business, as well as its premises as one package.”
Richard Finney said: “Collectively our team are well known in commercial property circles, and we have been very enthused by the support we have received, and new instructions gained in just a matter of weeks. Bringing Kevin’s depth of knowledge about business transactions to the mix has boosted our offering to business owners seeking to sell in the region.”
